‘Scary’ Tiger back in contention with Shanghai 64

American golfer Tiger Woods hit an eight-under-par 64 to charge back into contention at the HSBC Champions event yesterday, finishing the second round two shots behind Indian leader Jyoti Randhawa.

The world No 1, who started the day at level par, hit seven birdies and an eagle with just one bogey to match the Sheshan course record set by Swede Henrik Stenson earlier in the day and believes he could have gone even lower.

Kane to forego Women’s World Cup of Golf

Citing an off-season dedicated to recovering from the past season and preparing for the 2007 LPGA season, Lorie Kane announced that she will be unable to participate in the 2007 Women’s World Cup of Golf being played January 19-21 in South Africa.

”Representing Canada will always be a top priority for me, but I developed a good training regimen and many good habits last off-season and I want to continue to dedicate myself to that even more this off-season,” said Kane. ”I feel great physically and good about my game right now. As any player gets older, the more important it is to get proper rest and coaching during their down time.
